Sunday Mornings

Coffee's on at 9:00 and worship begins at 10:00, at 701 E 130th St, Burnsville, in welcoming space provided to us at Presbyterian Church of the Apostles.

Study Hour begins at 9:00 and gives us a chance to explore the Bible and issues of faith in community. Adults gather in one room. Children and youth in others. Themes often are taken from the themes for the day in worship.

Worship begins at 10:00 and lasts until around 11:00. All we do together begins with worship. Without it, the soul thirsts and the community cannot breathe. The constant heartbeat of worship pumps energy into everything we are and all we do. At Spirit of Joy worship is shaped by scripture but never hidebound. We constantly seek creative  words for each challenging new day.

Fellowship means more time to visit, good coffee, and refreshments that sometimes even double as lunch.

What do I wear?
You're welcome to wear whatever you like. We're a pretty casual, comfortable community who come from all walks of life. Stay for refreshments afterward and you'll never be a stranger.
Be sure to take home some homemade bread!

What Happens in Worship
  • Opening Music and Welcome
  • Let the Children Come — a child-centered story or activity that sets the day's theme
  • Conversation with Scripture — the reading and exploration of ideas found in the day's Bible passage
  • Prayers of the Community — sharing our joys and concerns, five minutes of silence for contemplative prayer, followed by a pastoral prayer
  • Giving to Support Ministry and Mission— the children pass trays to receive the gifts we give to sustain and support all our ministries, including our outreach in the community
  • Communion — where everyone is welcome at the table to receive bread and juice, and no one will be turned away
  • Fellowship continues with refreshments in the community room following worship
